Fire Audit Process
Printing extinguisher stickers, site setup, and the scan-to-check workflow

Recommended Method: Pre-Print, Then Visit

Print labels in the office before you go to site, then apply and scan on arrival. This is quicker and more reliable than trying to print from a phone over Bluetooth on site.

  1. In TrakNet, open Fire Audit in the sidebar.
  2. If the site already exists (e.g. Bowker), open it and check how many extinguishers are on the register. If you don't know the count yet, use Print blank stickers instead — print a few extra (e.g. 15 for a site you expect has 10-12) and register them as you find each unit.
  3. Click Print QR pack (known units) or Print blank stickers (unknown count), choose 2 per label (larger, for bigger extinguishers) or 4 per label (compact, for most jobs).
  4. In the print dialog: printer = Polono PL80E, paper size = 100 × 150mm, margins = None, scale = 100% / Default (never "Fit to page" — it blurs the QR).
  5. Cut along the dashed lines and take the printed sheet with you to site.
Taking pre-cut stickers on site is faster than printing per-unit — peel, stick, scan, next. No printer or signal needed once you're there.

On Site: Apply and Scan

  1. Open traknet.app/audit on your phone (add it to your home screen once — it then opens like an app).
  2. Sign in with your TrakNet username and the site's Audit PIN (ask your admin if you don't have it).
  3. Tap Choose a site and pick the client and site you're at (or add it if it's new). Every sticker you scan next assumes this site until you change it.
  4. Stick a label on the extinguisher, then scan it (camera or in-app scanner).
  5. Blank sticker (shows its printed reference, e.g. CFP-0042): opens Register this unit — confirm the site, add the label ("Ext 1 – Reception"), type, rating, and scan the manufacturer's serial barcode. Photograph the spec label if you can.
  6. Already registered unit: opens straight to the check screen — Pass or Fail (with a note and optional photo), or Record Service for a basic/extended service, recharge, or replacement.
  7. Repeat for every unit. The app tracks how many of the site's active extinguishers have been checked and completes the audit automatically once they're all done.

In Chrome's print dialog (not the printer driver dialog), Scale must be 100% / Default. "Fit to page" resizes the sheet and softens the QR.

2-Up vs 4-Up

2 per label — larger QR and text, easier to read at a glance. Use for bigger extinguishers or sites where labels need to stand out.

4 per label — compact, uses fewer labels. Good default for most jobs and for bulk blank-sticker packs.

Reference Codes

Every sticker printed carries a unique reference (CFP-0001, CFP-0002...), so a stack of blanks is never a stack of identical labels. Once registered, the reference sits under the extinguisher's location label on the sticker, in the app, and on the site register in TrakNet — the same code follows the unit everywhere.

The Fire Audit app needs the Audit PIN set in Fire Audit → Notification settings before anyone can sign in.

Print pre-emptively, not per-unit on site. There's no reliable way to print from the phone straight to the Bluetooth printer over the web app.
